She’s young, smart, witty and absolutely stylish! I’m talking the girl behind the scene of Mademoiselle Hannah. I stumbled across her blog a couple of months ago and I’ve been hooked since. From her way of writing to her pretty pictures, everything about Mademoiselle Hannah is fun, trendy and fashionable. Plus she’s a real sweetheart. You’re gonna enjoy this interview so let’s get to know this pretty girl better!
1. Tell us a brief story about mademoisellehannah.
I started reading fashion blogs a few years ago, but never considered starting one myself until recently. In December 2009, I spontaneously decided to create Mademoiselle Hannah, not really thinking I would ever be able to write every day. But I did! Over the next few months, I started writing more often, taking higher quality photos, and developing my own voice. It has been such a fun, rewarding experience. To anyone who is thinking about starting a blog, just do it!
2. Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
My biggest inspiration comes from other fashion bloggers. When I see other girls with the confidence to rock their favorite trends, I’m inspired to push the boundaries of my style, too. I’m also inspired by my favorite TV characters, Blair Waldorf and Carrie Bradshaw. I’m obsessed with how perfectly put-together Blair is and I adore Carrie’s eclectic, feminine style.
3. Who’s your role model in fashion and why?
I have so many role models! I admire Daniela Corte, the designer I interned for this summer; Betty Riaz, a stylist and entrepreneur; fashion bloggers Jessica Quirk of What I Wore, Rebecca Roe of The Clothes Horse, and Kimberly Yang of A Bit Coquettish; and editors-in-chief Anna Wintour, Amy Astley, and Roberta Myers, just to name a few. When someone is truly passionate about what they do, it shows! I hope my work emulates the same passion that these women demonstrate on a daily basis.
4. Describe your style in 3 words.
Feminine, flirty, and fun! I love prints (floral and leopard are my favorites), bright colors, and super-girly skirts and dresses.
5. What’s the most expensive thing you’ve owned so far?
My Michael Kors bag. It was a seventeenth birthday present from my parents and grandparents. I chipped in, too! I love it now as much as I did when I first laid eyes on it. (Or maybe even more!) I think splurges are definitely okay once in awhile as long as you know it’s something you will enjoy for a long time.
6. What do you think is a must have fashion item that every girl should have in their closet?
Something that makes you feel fantastic! For me, it’s a beautiful orange dress; your feel-good piece might be a killer leather jacket, or an amazing pair of boots. When you wear something you feel incredible in, you’re automatically happier and more confident. After all, Audrey Hepburn once said, “I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.” Audrey was right!
7. Give us a few tips and tricks on how to be a great blogger like yourself : )
Focus on producing the best content you can. Publicize your blog – I use Facebook, Twitter, and business cards. Write about things you love and are truly passionate about. Immerse yourself in the fashion world: read blogs, magazines, and catalogs; look at runway collections and photo shoots; intern in the fashion industry. Write in your own voice. Make sure whatever you’re putting out on your blog is the very best that you – and only you – can be!
PS: Thanks for taking some time to participate in this interview, sweetie! : )
