Living in Bali, I realized that I haven’t been talking much about the fashion scene. Last Saturday, I was invited to a very special  showcase. This showcase comprised of three gorgeous presentations — fashion, jewelry and natural products. I will talk about them in 3 separate sections. Today I’ll talk about Paulina Katarina (PK), Bali-based designers that will definitely blow your mind with their chic-silhouettes.

Paulina Katarina Designers

I had a pleasure meeting Surya Paulina (left) and Ratna Katarina (right) at the event. Even though we didn’t get a chance to talk a lot but they were really nice and friendly (not to mention, very pretty!). This dynamic sister-duo has been in local/international fashion industry for years, and with their knowledge, experience and of course passion for fashion, PK was born in late 2011.

Paulina Katarina Catalog

Entering their little “gallery” of fashion, I was greeted with beautiful catalog and romantic flower display on an antique-looking wooden table. Everything was elegantly exhibited — From the well-ordered dress racks to the mannequins showcasing their latest collection. They were such a sight to see, a sweet combination of playful and sophisticated color tones. I simply couldn’t resist running my fingers through each hanger, just to feel the soft and gentle fabric.

Chanel Édimbourg Métiers d’Art 2012/13

I gotta post this video because it’s just too good not to share. This Chanel fashion show is beautifully shot by Trevor Undi. Those who aren’t familiar with him, I’ll tell you a bit about this talented director/photographer/writer. First of all, he’s British/Canadian and he has been working with major artists both in music and film industry, such as Jennifer Connely, Keanu Reeves, Wesley Snipes and more. Photography has always been his passion and main medium and you can see throughout his works in fashion and art. His latest project is this beautiful and artistic “short film” of Chanel – Édimbourg Métiers d’Art 2012/13. Combining his skills in capturing objects both emotionally and artistically, the result is romantic, dramatic and absolutely sensual. Karl Lagerfeld played the impressive Creative Director role and managed to bring out the Couture, the Culture and the Entertainment all in one. This video was shot in Scotland’s Linlithgow Palace, set against the haunting and poetic “Retrograde” by James Blake.

The fashion was very flamboyant and vintage-oriented. From the Victorian collars to delicate and fully-detailed jewelry of pearls, crystals and stones. Watch how meticulous each curves and tailoring are in every dresses, the plaid and shimmering French lace, aren’t they just amazing? But then again, we’re talking about Chanel here. The catwalk itself was oh-so-wooden-couture. Some thought it was a bit creepy while others thought it was quite amusing.
Anyway, I can’t help but noticing the gorgeous dress at 1:10, I love the half-balloon sleeves and stunning brooches. They’re amazing!

Hope you enjoy this video as much as I do, God knows how many times I’ve watched it! : )

My New Little Dotty Bag

Dotty Set

I just came back from Jakarta and what a good trip it was. Although I didn’t get a chance to shop like crazy, I had a good time with my family and friends. During my time there, I couldn’t help but to notice that Korean fashion is all over the place. From the clothes, make-up, accessories, shoes, everything is so Korean. Not that I mind though because I like them, too. That’s why I got this super cute satchel. I love the way it looks like, inside and outside, the canvas material, the polka-dots and of course the color and lace. Not just that, I also get the mini pouch that goes with it. I can put my little necessities such as my travel-size make-ups and body mist. This satchel is designed for hand-carry and cross-body styles. I really love the lace strap around the shoulders, they’re so pretty and girly. I think I’ll stick to this bag for a long time. Oh and I got all of these for only US$20!

An Elegant Soiree With Rusly Tjohnardi

Le Grande Soiree by Rusly Tjohnardi

I haven’t talked about him for quite a while now so I think it’s about time! As you know from my Facebook news, I was in Jakarta and lucky for me, it was also the time when Rusly Tjohnardi had his mini fashion show. I have no idea why he called it “mini”, because if there’s anything about the show, it is definitely not mini.

Fashion Na7ion was the main event of this show and for this opportunity, Rusly used the theme “Le Grande Soiree”. It took place in Senayan City, one of the most prestigious and high-class malls in Jakarta. This was the mall that I normally went to when I needed my designer dose! You’ll find lots of high-end boutiques, both local and international.

Le Grande Soiree was more than just attitude and glam, it was a dreamy presentation, an alluring showcase where art meets power. The power of seduction, sensuality and mystery, all is wrapped divinely, giving you sensational feelings from beginning ’till the end. I can feel a strong inspiration from Cleopatra’s beauty to delicate style of the Greek Goddesses. Using gold, beige and dark blue as his main tones, the see-through effects captivated all eyes. Each dress is carefully crafted in such amazing details, using only high-quality tulle, French lace, sequins and feathers. I also find the accessories quite intriguing – a fabulous combination of gold, diamond and colored gem-stones.

All I can say is that Le Grande Soiree leaves not only gorgeous impression but also a good feeling for being a woman.
